Conference Chair’s Speech

Conference Chair’s Speech

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

Distinguished guests,
Peace be upon you,

It gives me great pleasure and honor, on behalf of the Health Support Services Center at the Ministry of Health, to welcome you to the Blood Transfusion Services Center Conference. This event is held as part of our ongoing national efforts to enhance the quality and efficiency of blood transfusion services in alignment with Saudi Vision 2030, under the generous patronage and unwavering support of our wise leadership — may Allah preserve them — and the direct guidance of His Excellency the Minister of Health.

This conference serves as a specialized scientific platform and a stimulating environment for exchanging expertise and showcasing best practices in the field of transfusion medicine. It reflects our collective commitment to advancing this vital sector and achieving the highest standards of quality and safety across all levels.

Over the past years, blood banks in the Kingdom have undergone a significant transformation — marked by strengthened infrastructure, implementation of quality and accreditation systems, development of biosafety policies, and the integration of digital solutions and technological advancement. One of the most notable achievements is the successful use of drones during the Hajj season to deliver blood units quickly and safely. This pioneering initiative has demonstrated the health ecosystem’s readiness and resilience during one of the most operationally demanding periods.

We are also honored, for the first time in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, to host the American Association of Blood Banks (AABB), with their valuable participation through the AABB Highlights program. This reflects our commitment to global knowledge exchange with leading international institutions and our aspiration to remain aligned with the latest developments in blood transfusion medicine.

I would also like to express my heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to our blood donors — the unsung heroes — whose selfless contributions help save lives and offer hope to patients in their most critical moments. Blood donation is not only a noble humanitarian act; it is a fundamental pillar for the sustainability of any health system and deserves our full recognition and support.

Hosting this conference, with the participation of experts and specialists, reflects our serious commitment to fostering integration across all sectors of the healthcare system. It aims to improve service quality, enhance the management of vital resources, raise awareness of voluntary regular donation, and achieve national self-sufficiency in blood and its components.

In conclusion, I extend my sincere thanks to everyone who contributed to the organization of this high-level scientific event — to our supporters, sponsors, and, most importantly, to the dedicated teams who worked tirelessly to bring this conference to life in a manner that aligns with our national aspirations.

Let us continue working together toward safer, high-quality blood transfusion services that promote human health and embody the values of collaboration, integration, and innovation.

Peace and blessings be upon you.
