ABSTRACTS SUBMISSION

Abstract submissions should adhere to the following requirements:

ABSTRACT SUBMISSION CONDITIONS

A. General conditions

1. Abstracts are required for all posters. 
2. Abstracts must be submitted in English and by 15 November 2025 
3. Abstracts are accepted on the following topics: 

A- Blood Donation
    • Recruitment and retention of donors
    • Donor eligibility and deferral criteria
    • Collection methods (whole blood, apheresis)
    • Donor safety and post-donation care
B- Transfusion Services
    • Blood component preparation and storage
    • Crossmatching and compatibility testing
    • Patient blood management (PBM)
    • Transfusion reactions and hemovigilance
C- Cellular Therapy
    • Hematopoietic stem cell collection (bone marrow, peripheral blood, cord blood)
    • CAR-T and other engineered cellular products
    • Regulatory frameworks for advanced therapies
    • Clinical applications in oncology, hematology, and regenerative medicine
D- Immunohematology & Genetics
    • Blood group systems and antibody identification
    • Molecular typing (DNA-based methods for rare antigens)
    • Genomic approaches to resolve complex serology
    • Role in precision transfusion medicine
E- Quality in Blood Transfusion
    • Quality management systems (QMS) in blood banks
    • Accreditation standards (AABB, ISO, CAP, etc.)
    • Continuous improvement and risk management
    • Traceability and hemovigilance systems
F- Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP)
    • Standards for cleanroom and processing environments
    • Validation, qualification, and documentation practices
    • Regulatory compliance for blood and cellular products
    • Ensuring safety, efficacy, and reproducibility

4. Statement of ethical approval or exemption with committee name and reference number is required, if ethics approval is pending please make a note of it.
5. In case the paper has already been submitted for and presented in another meeting, kindly mention this in the respective section.
6. Withdrawal of abstracts is only accepted if notified in writing and subsequently confirmed by the Conference Committee.

Presenting Author and Registration

  1. The presenting author must register as an active participant at the conference. If the presenting author will not be the original author of the submitted abstract, it must be notified and confirmed by sending an email to (Info@sicbtksa.com) 5 days prior to the conference.
  2. The committee reserves the right to exclude any abstract from the scientific program that is not followed by a participant registration.

Abstract contents

  1. The abstract word limit is 350 words per abstract.
  2. The abstract must include the following:
    • TITLE: Must be as brief as possible and clearly indicate the nature of the study.
    • INTRODUCTION: The introduction must contain the following:
      • Problem description and summary 
      • Aim that clearly states the purpose of the abstract. 
    • METHODS: Describe the design, the analytical techniques and the statistics used in the study. Ethical considerations should be documented if applicable.
    • RESULTS: Present your results in a logical sequence in the text, table, and illustrations.
    • FIGURES: No figures are allowed in the abstract, however they can be presented in the poster.
    • CONCLUSIONS: Emphasize new and important aspects of the study (perhaps as a discussion section) and the conclusions that are drawn from them.
    • REFERENCES: A maximum of five (5) literature references may be added at the end of the abstract text. Use the brief numbered style common in abstract writing, e.g., [1], [2], etc. References must be written in numerical order in the reference list and should use the abbreviated style.
    • ACKNOWLEDGMENTS: (If applicable) Written at the end of the abstract and mention all sources of funding and any individual/group who has provided support, guidance or assistance for the work described. References and acknowledgments are excluded in the 350-500 word count for the abstract text.  
  1. All abbreviations/acronyms must be spelled out, defined and placed in parentheses after the full word/name on the first use.

Reviewing

  1. The abstract review committee will review the abstract. 
  2. Notification of acceptance or rejection of the abstract will be sent directly to all presenting authors (Presenter) through email. 

 

After the submission: 

  1. Abstract main author (Presenter) will be notified of the abstract acceptance through the email address provided during the submission.
  2. Withdrawing an abstract after the submission deadline must be supported with a written statement reflecting the reasons behind the withdrawal decision and must be sent to email (Info@sicbtksa.com) not later than date 15 November 2025

Accepted Abstracts:

  1. The author will be requested to be available for discussion during the corresponding poster viewing session. Details on poster format will be included in the notification letter and posted in the conference website.
  2. Submitting the abstract constitutes a formal commitment by the author to present the abstract in the session and at the time the abstract review Committee decides.
  3. Any change of the presenting author needs to be communicated in the form of a written statement and sent to (Info@sicbtksa.com ). If the original presenting authors are unable to present the abstract, it is their responsibility to ensure that one of the co-authors takes over this role.

Poster 

The poster will be electronic and should be uploaded as PDF and Portrait.

An award will be presented for junior researchers who display good research skills Criteria: less than 1 published articles
